Beta Eta Chapter Sigma Theta Tau International Scholarships:
Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship Awards
The Beta Eta Chapter-at-Large of Sigma Theta Tau is pleased to announce the award of two $500 Scholarships. Students at Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing are eligible to apply. Applications will be reviewed for academic performance, personal and professional goals, and professional and community service.
Graduate Nursing Scholarship Award
One scholarship award of $1000 will be awarded to one graduate nursing student. Academic performance, personal, community, and professional goals and accomplishments will be considered. Students at Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing are eligible to apply.
Graduate Student Research Award
There will be two $1500 awards given to support the research training and scholarship in nursing science of a member of Sigma Theta Tau who is currently enrolled in either a Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program or PhD program. Students at Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison are eligible to apply. A succinct and carefully written description of the proposed research will assist the reviewers in evaluating the purpose, method, and feasibility of the research plan. There are two separate applications for the DNP and the PhD application.

Upon requesting an application, please be specific in your message of which scholarship you are applying for in order to receive the correct application form, for example, Undergraduate, Graduate, or the Graduate Student Research Award (DNP or PhD).
Deadline for all Sigma Theta Tau Scholarship submissions: March 15, 2014.

Independent volunteer opportunities.
(Not as an Edgewood Nursing Student)
Currently, we are in need of volunteers to help with the following programs:
· S.A.F.E. at Home
· Meals On Wheels
Hospice volunteers are being recruited in several WI counties including, Dane. As a member of the HHU – Hospice team, our volunteers are part of an integrated and specialized support system that provides meaningful end-of-life care. Volunteers can choose to work directly or indirectly with patients and their families. Volunteering times are flexible. Free, comprehensive training is provided.
S.A.F.E. at Home
S.A.F.E. at Home is a falls prevention program. It provides a free, in-home assessment to residents in Dane County aged 65 and older. The mission of S.A.F.E at Home is to reduce falls and help individuals stay safe and independent in their homes. Volunteers are trained to conduct assessments. Volunteering times are very flexible. Assessments can be done on nights and weekends.
Meals On Wheels
Meals On Wheels is a community-based, volunteer driven noontime meal service that provides daily safety checks to homebound seniors and disabled in Madison, Middleton, Monona and Sun Prairie. We are looking for volunteers to deliver meals. Home Health United serves meals 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are very flexible with scheduling. Volunteers choose which days and times work best for them. All volunteers are required to go through a short training session prior to taking routes.
